DuPage DOT Highland Avenue Bridge Repairs and Roadway Resurfacing
Cotter provided a Resident Engineer and inspectors to oversee repairs of the Highland Avenue bridges over Illinois Route 56 (Butterfield Road) and Illinois Tollway I-88. The bridge repairs consisted of partial depth deck repairs, low epoxy crack injection repairs, superstructure corbel repairs, bridge approach reconstruction, concrete median reconstruction, and expansion joint repairs.
The project also included roadway resurfacing of Highland Avenue from 31st Street to the I-88 bridge, sidewalk repairs in compliance with ADA standards, and Highland Ave. bridge PCC patching and HMA resurfacing of Tollway owned WB I-88 exit ramp to Highland Avenue.
Cotter coordinated with local agencies within the project boundaries to minimize the inconvenience to the patrons and motoring public including Pace, Village of Lombard, DuPage County, Illinois Tollway and IDOT as lane configurations changed and total road closures were performed that required detour routes.
