Mercy Hospital retained Cotter as an owners representative to provide project management services for state-of-the art critical care environment upgrades. These multi-phased departmental renovations took place over a two-year period and included the birthing center, cardiac care unit, and hospital-wide fire alarm and fire protection upgrades. Cotter provided coordination and administration of all HUD financing requirements, regulatory requirements (including those set by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH)), TIF compliance, and full-time, on-site construction management.
Cotter’s top priority was maintaining safe, uninterrupted patient care and hospital operations during construction and scheduled system shut downs. Close communication among hospital staff, physicians, infection control personnel, and coordination with the contractor’s logistics plan was required to maintain an efficient project schedule flexible enough accommodate daily adjustments.
